Importance of safflower for the human beings

Safflower is annual crop growing in all over the world which is mostly cultivated for the vegetable oil. The plant of safflower is highly branched, 30-120 cm tall having yellow, orange or red flowers on top. The soil is extracted from the seeds of safflower plant. In 2012-13, the seed production o safflower worldwide was 718,160 tones. About 24% contribution was by Kazakhstan.

Oil of safflower seed:

The oil of safflower seed is colorless as well as flavorless, but its nutritional value is high just like sun-flower. The safflower has two types so oil which is produced are also of two types.

  • High in mono-unsaturated fatty acid (Oleic acid)
  • High in poly-unsaturated fatty acid (Linoleic acid)

Importance of safflower:

Safflower is considered as the most beneficial for the human health as it helps to

  • Lower the cholesterol level
  • Control sugar level
  • Helps in weight loss
  • Improve the health of hairs
  • skin improvement
  • help in relaxation of muscles
  • improve the immune system
  • improves the regulation of heart beat

Improves heart beat:

Safflower contain omega-6-fatty acid which is most beneficial for the human body and it improves the blood circulation. Omega-6-fatty acid is also known as linoleic acid. This acid helps the body to maintain the cholesterol level and ultimately it saves the body from heart attacks and strokes.

Control sugar level:

Safflower is beneficial for the diabetic as it contains omeg-6-fatty acid which helps in lowering the sugar level.

Obesity:

Weight loose is the major problem now a days. Safflower helps in the weight loose as it contains linoleic acid which helps to burn the fats rather than to store it.

Hair health:                                                                                                                         

Safflower helps in the improvement of hair health as it contains oleic acid, which is also beneficial effects for the scalp. Oleic acid helps to improve the hair length and keep the hair shiny. Safflower is also used in cosmetics.

Skin improvement:

The linoleic acid boost the appearance of skin. It helps to unclog the pores and reduce the formation of blackheads, as well as, it also control the acne. Linoleic acid helps to produce the new cell formation.

Conclusion:

Safflower is beneficial for human health but the person who have the problem of blood clotting should not consume the safflower oil as it helps to lower the blood clotting process.
