World Bank assistance programme: Sindh CS assures co-operation, coordination efforts

Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas has assured the 5th World Bank Mission to extend the best co-operation and co-ordination efforts in respect of the World Bank assistance programme in Sindh province. He appreciated the World Bank interest in boosting the food, agriculture & fisheries and livestock programme in the province. The water sector development is also a task, in this regard. 

The members of the 5th WB Mission visited the Sindh Secretariat on Tuesday. Simeon Ehvi, the World Bank team leader, elucidate the poverty alleviation and inclusive/participatory growth and enhanced competitiveness capacity building/institution development which would cover agriculture, livestock and possibly fisheries. 

Sindh Secretary Agriculture Agha Jan Akhtar informed that the Sindh is promoting the agricultural production programme, thus the World Bank co-operation would be advantageous, accordingly. ACS, Finance Sindh Arif Ahmed Khan, Secretary Food Akhtar Memon, Secretary Fisheries and Livestock Abid Shah and Chief Economist P&D Iqbal Memon also briefed about the salient features of their co-relations in the World Bank assistance programme. Chief Secretary asked the Planning and Development Department to do the needful to this effect. A formal request would be delivered to the 5th World Bank Mission within a couple of days from the Sindh government.-PR
