Wheat import specifications announced

The Ministry of Food Security and Research has announced specifications for the import of wheat by the private sector. In response to a State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) query regarding the process of import of wheat by private sector, the Ministry of Food Security and Research has explained that import policy order 2008 as amended from time to time, is still in order and the current wheat imports by the private sector will be regulated under Notification No F 6 (5)/ 2008 wheat-1 dated 14th November 2008 pertaining to SRO-909(1) 2008 dated August 1, 2008.

Imported wheat should be free from ergot, smut, fungus, poisonous weed seed and rodent residues and imported grains should be from latest crop. The imported wheat should be free from live stored grain insects and their larvae. SBP has asked all authorised dealers to bring the above to the notice of all their constituents.
