Water theft: monitoring process made stricter: Minister

Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation, Malik Ahmad Ali said that monitoring process of checking water theft and to ensure provision of canal water to tail-end farmers throughout the province, has been further made strict, so that the farmers should not have to face difficulty due to lack of water, at time of crop sowing. 

The Minister stated this while talking to farmers at adjoining village of Harapa, Wala Rajbah here on Sunday. S.E. Nisar Akbar, XEN, Abbas Ali Naseem and SDO Najam-ul-Hassan Najami of Lower Bari Doab Canal were also present on the occasion. XEN Nisar Akbar informed that the Irrigation Department has chalked out a well-co-ordinated strategy to ensure provision of water to the tail-end farmers, while strict action is being taken against water thieves, in addition to continuous monitoring of canals. 

Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation, Malik Ahmad Ali, directed the officers to solve the problems being faced by the farmers on top priority basis, as it is the duty of Agriculture and Irrigation Departments to provide maximum possible facilities to the farmers, so that agriculture production is further increased, and Punjab province could maintain its agriculture autarky.
