The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and Star Farm Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of livestock and dairy sectors. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Managing Director Star Farm Pakistan Shauket Ali Sherazi signed the MoU at a simple ceremony at the UVAS City Campus on Thursday.
Under the MoU, both the organisations would organise training programs for the training of trainers in the field of livestock and dairy. The training programmes will be held and facilitated by the UVAS in terms of labs, lecture rooms, model farms, feed processing plants, pasteurisation plant and milking parlour. The UVAS will provide certification and examination facilities for the training participants.
Both the organisations will also exchange information, materials and facilities of mutual interest. Speaking at the MoU-signing signing, the Vice-Chancellor said that the university is providing all animal production techniques and facilities on its Ravi Campus. He said that the UVAS 24/7 Extension Service is helping farming community and striving to improve the overall health, productivity and well-being of animals. Professor Pasha said that the markets of livestock sector are in poor condition and need to be reformed so that the developed products can bring huge profit for farmers in general and the country in particular.
