The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and the Sharif Group of Companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to synergise their efforts for fast-track development of dairy and poultry sectors in the country. The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and the Sharif Group’s Director, Ikramul Haq at a simple ceremony held at UVAS city campus on Monday.
Both the parties agreed on the need to synergise the respective efforts, benefit from each others human and capital resources and work in collaboration to help improve the economic competitiveness of dairy and poultry sectors. The objectives of the MoU are to share with each other and align mutual perspectives in developing policy recommendations for the development and promotion of dairy and poultry sectors in Punjab and other provinces, to undertake various initiatives for strengthening academia-industry linkage through knowledge and expertise sharing activities, to work together to maximise knowledge base in the livestock, poultry and allied sectors through research activities/undertakings.
Both the organisations will also organise workshops, seminars and information dissemination campaigns to educate consumers, dairy farmers and poultry farmers on all related issues, including productivity enhancement. The UVAS would allow and motivate students and faculty for conducting research and internships at all related facilities of the Sharif Group.
