Tarbela Dam: President to inaugurate fourth expansion project on March 14

President Asif Ali Zardari will inaugurate the fourth expansion project of Tarbela Dam on March 14. The project on its completion will add 1,410 megawatt electricity into the national grid. According to sources, the inauguration ceremony will be held at Tarbela Power House, for which all preparations have been finalised. 

Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Chairman Wapda Syed Raghib Shah, officials of the World Bank and other important officials will attend the inauguration ceremony. The 1,410-megawatt power project will consist of three units of 470 megawatts each, which will cost 480 million dollars. The WB is providing funds for the completion of the project. The first instalment of 20 million dollars has been paid to Wapda. However, the tender of the project has not been conducted yet.
