Sindh, Balochistan donate wheat to WFP

 

 

 

 

Governments of Sindh and Balochistan has donated 11,500 metric ton and 11,460 metric ton of wheat respectively. Both donations are received at a critical time when WFP was facing serious challenges to maintain cereal pipeline for the people affected by floods for 2012, said a press release here on Saturday. 

According to WFP 22,960MT of wheat donated by the provincial governments requires $6.4 million as associated cost for transportation, milling, fortification, distribution and monitoring of wheat. As of November 02, 2012 WFP have received $1.3 million from Denmark for the twining of wheat whereas $5.1 million is still required. WFP said for this WFP has received positive indications from few donors however amount pledged needs to be confirmed quickly to allow WFP to registered and access this wheat.
