A delegation of Pakistan Kisan Ittehad Punjab (PKIP) led by its President Khalid Mahmood Khokhar, called on Chief Minister Najam Sethi at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday and apprised him about the problems of the farmers. The Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Secretary Food, Commissioner Lahore Division, Chief Executive Lesco, DCO Lahore and other office-bearers of Pakistan Kisan Ittehad were also present on the occasion.
Talking to the delegation, Najam Sethi said that farmers of Pakistan were very hardworking and due return of their produce would be ensured. He said that his sympathies were with the farmers. The Chief Minister assured to play his due role for redressal of their grievances. He said that steps would be taken for ensuring payment of due return to the sugarcane growers. He said that the complaints of farmers regarding bardana would be redressed immediately.
The Chief Minister directed Divisional Commissioners to resolve the problems of farmers on priority basis and there should be no complaint regarding bardana in any area of Punjab. Najam Sethi said that sincere efforts were made for reducing load shedding in Punjab. He said that Federal Government would be contacted regarding the complaints of farmers about the subsidy on electricity bills. He asked the farmers to show tolerance and cooperate with the administration.
President PKIP, Khalid Mahmood Khokhar said that Najam Sethi had won the hearts of farmers by listening to their problems sympathetically. He said that farmers greatly loved with the country and were working round the clock for the development of the motherland. He assured the Chief Minister of full co-operation.
