River Indus in low flood at Chashma barrage

The Flood Warning Centre said here on Friday that the Indus river is in low flood with a discharge of 429000 cusecs at Chashma barrage while at Kalabagh and Taunsa it is in low flood state. The river Kabul at Nowshera is in low flood level. 

It said the water flow in the Indus river at Tarbela is 251000 cusecs, at Kalabagh 345000 cusecs at Taunsa 285100 cusecs, at Guddu barrage 192000 cusecs, at Sukkur 127900 cusecs and at Kotri barrage 60800 cusecs. 21700 cusecs river water is being released in the Indus Delta downstream the Kotri barrage. 

About the on-going wet spell, it said a well marked seasonal low lies over north-west Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending south-eastwards. Monsoon currents from Arabian Sea are reaching into southern & central parts of the country. Scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated moderate falls is expected over Kashmir, Punjab and Sindh. Isolated thunderstorm/rain is likely to occur over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eastern Balochistan & Makran division. 

Met office weather forecast for today Rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places of south Punjab (Bahawalpur, D.G.khan divisions), Sibbi, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions, while at isolated places of Kashmir, upper Punjab including Islamabad, Zhob, Nasirabad, Kalat & Hazara divisions.
