River Indus embankments intact, no risk to any bund: Sharjeel

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said all embankments of Indus River are intact and there is no threat to any protective bunds as a result of the peak of recent flood, which is passing through Sindh. The Minister confidently said this while talking to media persons during his visit to Ghaliyan Bund of River Indus in Matiari on Saturday evening.

The Minister said that while considering the massive destruction during floods, the provincial government has already raised the height of the protective bunds by further six feet and now these protective bunds have the capability to avert the water pressure even during the passage of one million cusecs through the river. Earlier, the Provincial Information Minister paid a detailed visit to the embankment of Indus River right from Jamshoro to Matiari to review the arrangements which have been made by the Irrigation and other concerned departments to avert any eventuality during the passage of the peak of floodwaters.
