Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that sufficient stocks of wheat are available in the province. While presiding over a meeting held to review the release of wheat to the flour mills on Saturday, Khosa said that 25,000 metric ton wheat is being released to the flour mills daily as per their capacity so that provision of flour could be ensured to the masses at the rates fixed by the government.
Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ahmed Ali Aulakh, Special Assistant on Food Mansha Ullah Butt, Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Chairman Planning & Development Javed Aslam, Secretaries of Finance, Agriculture, Food and Industries departments, Director Food Usman Younus as well as other officers were present on the occasion.
The meeting reviewed the matters regarding stock position of wheat and its release to the flour mills on daily basis. Secretary Food informed that 20-kg flour bag is being sold for Rs 800 in other provinces while it is available at Rs 675 in open market in Punjab.
It was decided that the meeting to review stock position of wheat and its release will be convened once a week instead of 15 days. Secretary Food presented detailed report regarding provision of flour to the people upon which the meeting expressed its satisfaction.
