Rawalpindi to have nine mini dams

In order to fulfil the needs of water for agricultural and other purposes, the Punjab government has decided to construct nine mini dams in Rawalpindi Division (Pothohar). The government has allocated Rs 9.74 billion for the project. The dams will be constructed in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal and the water will be used to fulfil the water needs of the division. 

Meanwhile, the government also allocated Rs 250 million for different projects to save the regions of drought, while Rs 7.50 billion have been reserved for providing the farmers with tube-wells running with solar-energy and biogas.
