Rains and canal breaches: Punjab government forms teams to assess crop losses

Punjab Government has constituted 22 teams to assess crop losses in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur Districts caused by the flood, torrential rains and canal breaches. Secretary Agriculture Punjab Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad have constituted these teams which have already started their work and compiling data records. 

According to a spokesman of Punjab Agriculture Department, the teams have started compilation of data records. Each team will ensure ground truth based on actual field situation to be compiled by physical visit to the affected areas. This exercise will be completed by 14th September 2012. 

The spokesman further stated that Secretary Agriculture is himself monitoring survey and emergent rehabilitation work in these calamity declared districts. Minster for agriculture, livestock and irrigation, Malik Ahmad Ali Olakh, Secretary Agriculture, Punjab Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad, Director General Agriculture (Extension) Punjab, Dr Muhammad Anjum Ali, Director General Agriculture Research/Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides, Dr Noor-ul-Islam, Director Cotton, Abid Mehmood, Director Agricultural information, M.Rafiq Akhtar are present in these areas for the last three days for survey and rehabilitation.
