Rabi crops: PPCBL advances Rs 1.79 billion loans till December 31

Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Ltd (PPCBL) advanced Rs 1.79 billion loans for sowing, growing and maturing Rabi crops 2013-14 including strategic wheat, grams, lentils, oil-seeds, sunflower, vegetables, fodder, orchards, maize, etc till December 31. It may be added that PPCBL has earmarked Rs 2.5 billion for disbursement of agriculture loans among 62,626 members of the co-operative societies for the 2013-14 winter crops.

Secretary Co-operatives Punjab Dr Aamir Ahmad said here on Monday the co-operative bank had also recovered Rs 1.7767 billion agriculture loans advanced for Kharif crops 2013, during this period, which was 92.65 percent of the total agri loans. He called upon PPCBL management to meet the targets of disbursement and recovery of loans till January 15, so that the co-operative societies could play their effective role in the economic development and food security of the country.
