Punjab government taking steps to boost agriculture sector: minister

Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Dr Farrukh Javed has said that Punjab government is engaged in research work to introduce new varieties of cotton crop. He said that the government would benefit from the research and experience of Pakistani and Chinese agri scientists for enhancing cotton production. He said that a revolution can be brought in the agri sector with the help of China. 

Dr Farrukh Javed said that government would encourage advance research of Pakistani scientists for elimination of pest attacks on crops. He expressed these views in a meeting with a representative delegation of a Chinese company, Silverline. 

Director General Research, Pest Warning and Quality Control Department, Dr Noor-ul-Islam, Professor Dr Tayyeb Hasnain and Professor Idrees Ahmad Nasir were also present on the occasion. The members of the delegation of Chinese company, Silverline told that their company, in the light of its advance research, can educate Pakistani scientists in the agri sector so that the crops could be protected from pest attacks.
