Pakistan donates 0.Peanut growers advised for timely harvesting15 million tons of wheat to WFP

Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has advised the peanut growers that to ensure maximum per acre yield they should harvest their crop timely and take all precautionary measures during the harvesting process. According to an advisory issued here on Monday, peanut is the most earning crop of barani and potohar region amongst other khareef crop. 

At present average per acre yield is from nine to 10 maund per acre while its certain approved varieties could give per acre yield up to 40 maund per acre. The PAD spokesman advised the growers to harvest the peanut crop timely and also takes all precautionary measures during the harvesting process to achieve a high quality crop. 

He said when crop leaves got dried and start falling then they should uproot some plants for inspection. He said that 75 to 80 percent of the fruit should be ripe for crop harvesting. Otherwise early harvesting would reduces the per acre yield while if delayed its fruit get blackish which mars the quality and farmers get lower price, tspokesman added. It was further advised that the farmers should use tractor diggers for harvesting to ensure minimum wastage.
