PAD makes 1.4 million acres of land cultivable from 2002

Agriculture engineering wing of the Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has made 1.4 million acres of land cultivable from year 2002 to till date with a subsidy of over Rs 4.62 billion benefiting over 113,000 growers of the province. The department is renting out 344 bulldozers to the growers annually on subsidised rates which help levelling 30,000 acres of land per annum. 

He said these bulldozers are provided at Rs 560 per hour rent instead of Rs 1400 per hour of market rate. This was told to the Punjab’s caretaker Agriculture Minister Qaiser Zulfikar Khan at a briefing about ongoing projects of the department here on Friday. The meeting was also attended by the Director General Agriculture (field) Dr Muhammad Bashir and other high ups. In all the department had helped levelling over 13,000 acres of land during last two years with a subsidy of Rs 270 million.
