PAD advisory to wheat growers

 

Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has advised the wheat growers to keep their fields clean of weeds to get maximum per acre yield as according to an estimate these can reduce the yield by 14 to 42 percent. An advisory issued by the provincial agricultural department here on Monday said that estimate say if a grower is expecting 40 maund per acre and weeds are not removed then the production may restrict to 23 per maund per acre. 

The advisory stressed the need to eradicate weeds after first watering by using harrow while after growth of the crop it should be done manually. It also urged the growers to use any herbicide in consultation with the agricultural experts and do not use weeds as fodder after spraying herbicide.
