Minister of State for Water and Power Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi has said that as per Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s vision Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has always given priority to solving workers’ problems. Addressing the distribution of ‘Dowry Grant’ cheques ceremony at PSM CBA office here on Wednesday, he said that stable and profitable Pakistan Steel Mills was the agenda of the present Government.
“Although, Pakistan Steel is facing a tough time, however we believed that soon it will be a profitable organisation,” he added. On the occasion, CEO of Pakistan Steel, Major-General Muhammad Javed (Retd), said that Pakistan Steel’s production was gradually improving with the help of bailout package, however some of the insider and outsider were trying to shutdown this national asset.
“Even those are creating hurdles in development of this organisation, which are responsible to remove the hurdles,” he added. Chairman of the CBA, Shamshad Qureshi, said that Pakistan Steel was a national asset and they would never allow anyone to dispose of Pakistan Steel. He paid tribute to Qamar Zaman Kaira and said that the honourable minister had always helped and support the interests of Pakistan Steel whether inside the parliament or outside. He appealed to President of Pakistan Asaf Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to release the remaining amount of the total sanctioned bailout package for the Steel Mills.
