The Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon has taken serious notice of the flood of complaints raised by the notables, growers about the artificial shortage of irrigation water almost in all the irrigation minors, channels of taluka Hyderabad and talked to the Provincial Secretary Irrigation and recommended strict action against the officers responsible for.
This he directed while holding a meeting with Divisional / District heads of Provincial and National building departments, administrative officers, party workers and notables at Old Zila Nazim Secretariat Hyderabad on Sunday. The MNA Syed Amir Ali Shah Jamote, PPP leader Syed Tariq Ali Shah, Shahid Ansari, Badar Memon, Moula Bux Mashori, the Acting Commissioner Hyderabad Sajid Jamal Abro, Deputy Commissioner Hyd Mohd. Nawaz Sohu, Administrator HMC Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, MD Wasa Saleemuddin, C.E. Irrigation Junaid Memon and other officers from various national and provincial departments attended the meeting.
Sharjeel Memon directed the chief engineer and other officers of irrigation department to plug all loopholes pertaining to the water thefts, remove obstacles in channels by influential people, bring the modules of the irrigation minors as per approved specification and to ensure water supply upto tail-end within three to four days. He directed the officers to get the help from the district police and Rangers and take action without any discrimination and even not to spare the person belonging to ruling party.
He said that he will hold a separate meeting with the high officers of irrigation department to get this problem resolved permanently. He said if we are raising slogans of good governance and honesty then we must have to prove it. He said that it has been decided that henceforth the posting of the officers would be made of the basis of their performance.
