Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to construct godowns in Kohistan, Shangla: officials

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to construct food grain godowns in Kohistan and Shangla districts to ensure food safety and quality products to meet consumers’ requirement. Officials in Food Department told APP here on Tuesday that feasibility study of the project has been completed and work will start soon. This is one of the major projects of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government along with seven others schemes for which Rs 437.503 million have been allocated in Annual Development Programme in current fiscal year.

In wake of global climatic changes, rising population and nutrition intake values it is of paramount important for the government to initiate efforts not only to increase production of staple crops but also ensure food safety and quality by providing requisite infrastructure in the vicinity of the cropping areas.
