Three-day protest camp being established by the Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) to press the government for early solution of problems being faced by the farming community of the country is starting from November 13, 2012 (Tuesday). This protest camp will be participated by the leadership and workers of KBP and representatives of various other growers’ organisations and political parties.
It will conclude on November 15, 2012 with announcement for the future strategy of the ongoing protest movement by the Board. KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein Khan reviewed the final arrangements for this camp, said KBP Central Secretary Information Haji Muhammad Ramzan here on Monday.
KBP Chief alleged that sugar millers in Sindh and Punjab had joined hands to loot sugarcane growers and now rice millers were also bent upon depriving the growers from due compensation of their hard labour. He said that Rs 170 per maund minimum purchase price of sugarcane was too low as its input cost had registered an increase of 50 per cent as compared to last year.
He said that the KBP would give a call to besiege the mills if government failed to accept their demands as a result of ongoing peaceful protest movement. He appealed to the people from all walks of life to participate in this protest camp and movement called ‘save farmer-save Pakistan.’
