KBP urges government to convene moot of water experts

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the government to immediately convene a round-table conference of water and agriculture experts, politicians and defence experts to evolve a strategy for raising the Indian water aggression against Pakistan at international forums. This was the crux of the views expressed by the KBP Central Secretary General Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari and Senior Vice President Sarfraz Ahmad Khan while talking to journalists at an Iftar reception the other day. KBP General Secretary said that India was working on a plan to turn Pakistani fertile land in to barren by constructing dozens of dams till year 2014.

He claimed that India was constructing these dams in sheer violation of international rules. He said issue of water shortage was graver than the issue of terrorism. He said that the rulers should try to understand the urgency of the situation and raise the water issue at international forums.

He said that India was stealing 20 percent water out of the Pakistan’s share from Jhelum, Chenab and Sindh rivers against the international rules. He said Indian plan to construct 62 more dams were aimed at to dry the rivers in Pakistan and turn its fertile agricultural lands in to barren and destroy our agricultural economy. Ramzan Rohari said that India was using water as its weapon against Pakistan while our rulers were bent upon awarding India status of most favoured nation.
