The Kisan Board Pakistan urged the government to provide maximum relief to farmers in the upcoming budget to improve the national economy. KBP Lahore President Rashid Manhala told APP on Sunday that farmers are facing a number of problems including unavailability of water. He said that tube wells are not functional due to load shedding adding that previous government’s wrong policies aggravated the problems of the farmers.

He said that timely watering of crops is essential for their proper growth and the government should take proper steps to ensure the availability of water. He said that growers all over the world are being provided with subsidy to reduce their burden and help them boost production. He demanded the government to control price hike of agriculture inputs besides restoring subsidy on electricity for the agriculture sector.
