‘It’s not advisable to implement KBD project’

Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while responding questions of parliamentarian of other province, participating National Security workshop here at new Sindh Secretariat on Wednesday said that Kalabagh Dam has became as controversial project long ago and not advisable to implement. He said that experts of Sindh have identified 16 different sites for Run of River Power generation but 35 years were wasted in the debate on Kalabagh Dam. 

Khuhro was even of a view that water accord made in 1991 has flaws it was not decided in it that how much quantity of water should be released in to sea to avoids its intrusion, with result of that as many as two million acres of fertile land of Sindh has became degraded. Additional Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Shah while addressing the workshop said that there was not any “No Go Area” in the Karachi. 

He said that under targeted operation against terrorists big achievements have been made more than 10,000 criminals have been arrested, hundreds of them have been challaned in ATC and other courts. He said that well-known criminals would be made public with head money shortly and action against the criminals running their activities from prisons was in the way. 

However, he said that due to shortage and over loading of courts, cases of criminals, arrested in targeted operation and challaned in the courts, were not being trailed accordingly and efforts were being made to increase the number of ATC courts with consultation of judiciary with a view to ensure fast trial and complete the case within one week period. He said that upto 40 per cent reductions in the crime rate have been reported after targeted operation.-PR
