Irsa reduces outflow from Tarbela

The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has reduced outflow from Tarbela dam on river Indus from 30,000 cusecs to 15,000 cusecs in a couple of days, which has reduced hydel power production from Tarbela power house. 

According to Punjab Irrigation Engineers, 18,900 cusecs water is running in Indus river at Tarbela against the outflow of 15,000 cusecs. In the Mangla dam on river Jhelum, the inflow of water is 7,248 cusecs against the outflow of 25,000 cusecs. River Kabul is contributing 9,000 cusecs and Chenab river 6,400 cusecs to the water economy of the country. 

WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY 

Meteorological department has forecast mainly cold & dry weather in most parts of the country for today. However, it said isolated rain with light snow over the hills is likely in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Foggy conditions are likely to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab and Sindh (Lahore, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and Sukkur divisions) during night and early in the morning 

It further said that during the next 48 hours mainly cold & dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain with light snow over the hills is likely in Malakand, Hazara divisions Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Foggy conditions are likely to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, KPK, Sindh during night and early in the morning.
