National Productivity Organisation (NPO) will hold a five-day international agri seminar on `Innovations in Irrigation Water Management for Sustainable Food Security’ at a local hotel from Monday. This five-day session will gather including international participants from twenty different countries with an objective to address the challenges of complex solution of food insecurity.
The seminar would be organised in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organisation, Asian Productivity Organisation, United States Department of Agriculture and Ministry for Food Security, said a news release issued, here on Sunday. This international programme comes with a realisation that achieving food security in the face of additional food demand could be possible through raising productivity of existing irrigated farmland, upgrading rainfed farming and increasing international trade for overcoming food security in future.
