India releases 75,000 cusecs of water in river Sutlej

India has released 75,000 cusec water into River Sutlej and the Flood Forecasting Division has warned the people living near the river bed to move from there to safer place. Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dr Arif Mahmood told Business Recorder that River Sutlej is likely to attain low flood level (50,000 to 75,000 cusecs) on Tuesday that would continue for further 2 to 3 days. 

He said the flood water has already entered Pakistan at Gandha Singhwala with a flow of 36,000 cusecs. The peak of the flood would enter on Tuesday (today). Many villages in Kasur are feared to be inundated and the district authorities have altered the villagers to take precautionary measures. In a special weather alert, the Met office said that the wet spell is increasing. “Flash Flood Potential Rains” are expected in vulnerable districts of Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions and Kashmir on Tuesday and in D.G Khan, D.I Khan, Zhob, Sibbi, Nasirabad Divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday. RIVERS POSITION The River Indus at Chashma and Guddu is in medium flood level. River Indus at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur, River Kabul at Nowshera are in low flood level.
