Punjab government has evolved a well-knitted plan for the promotion of agriculture sector on modern line in the Punjab. The government under the plan is taking adequate steps to facilitate the rural youth especially engaged with the agriculture sector in the province.
Sources in Agriculture department told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that under the programme the Punjab government will introduce “Green Tractor” scheme for “Agricultural Youth” in the province. As many as 20, 000 tractors would be given on the basis of subsidy and the government has set aside Rs 2 billion for the purpose.
Sources further disclosed that the government is also taking revolutionary steps for installation of “Solar Panels” on tube wells aimed at facilitating the economically suppressed growers of rural and urban areas. This scheme will cost over Rs 1 billion and 50,000 families would be benefited of this programme across the Punjab sources added.
Special steps would also be taken for the improvement of irrigation system in Barani areas while Rs 10 crore would be spent on the construction of new mini dams in the area. The development work on 12 dams was near completion in Potohar region at a cost of Rs 7.76 billion, sources added.
