Green Tractor scheme: submission date of applications extended

Due to huge demands for Green Tractor scheme, applications submission date has been extended from August 22 to 31st August. This was decided in the provincial steering committee meeting of Green Tractor scheme on Monday. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad Secretary Agriculture chaired the meeting,

Ms Sumaira Samad Additional Secretary Agriculture (Planning), Deputy Secretary Agriculture (Planning), Deputy Secretary Agriculture (Finance), Dr Muhammad Anjum Ali Director General Agriculture (Ext.), Muhammad Rafiq Akhtar Director Agricultural Information, Chief Planning Agriculture Natiq Hussain, representatives of Planning and Development (P&D) and Finance Department Punjab were also present in the meeting. More than Rs 4 billion subsidy is being provided by Punjab government for 20,000 Green Tractors to farmers on cost sharing base. Government of Punjab will provide Rs 200,000 subsidy for each tractor while rest of the cost will be paid by the farmer.

This scheme has got over whelming response from farmers as up to now more than 2000 applications for Green Tractor scheme has been received. The distribution of Green Tractors will be completed through fair draw at Tehsil level.
