  • The first formal meeting of the newly elected office-bearers of Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan (GAPC), under the chairmanship of Chairman Regional Standing Committee on Gems and Jewellery of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Ahmad, was held here on Monday.

The meeting, keeping in view the present situation emerging after Pakistan-India trade relations and the recent visit of the joint delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan to India, formed a seven-committee Pak-India Gems and Jewellery Business Committee, headed by GAPC-Pakistan President Muhammad Ahmad.

The committee members include: Vice-Chairman, Muhammad Sohail Ismail (Karachi); members, Irfan Qureshi, Muhammad Faisal, Nazim Ali, Irfan Salahuddin and Muhammad Tahir Malik. Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ahmad said that under the present ever rising gold prices and devaluation of Pak rupee against dollar, there is an urgent need to have close trade with India in the field of gems and jewellery.
