Four million olive trees to be planted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: minister

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Arbab Muhammad Ayub Jan on Friday said the provincial government would plan as many as 4 million saplings of hybrid olive trees across the province to get olive oil. Talking to a delegation of farmers from Barra Bangla here at his residence, he said that Rs 500 million is being spent on mechanism farming to bring agricultural revolution in the province. 

He said that KP government has taken lead on all other provinces of the country by preparing 10-year agriculture policy, adding the under the policy efforts would be made to make the province self sufficient in wheat production and edible oil, improve the growth of off season vegetables and fruits. He said in order to export good quality off season fruits and vegetables to other country, the provincial government has chalked out a plan under which cold storages would be established and grading and polishing plants would be installed.
