The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised farmers of rain-fed areas to store rainwater to meet needs of their crops. A spokesman for the department said on Sunday that it was necessary to save rainwater for cultivation and good produce and asked farmers to plough land in the opposite direction of the slope to save rainwater.
Green fertiliser should be used to keep the land wet for a long time, he added.
