Former Speaker of National Assembly Syed Fakhar Imam has demanded for fixation of support price of wheat at Rs 1,150 per 40 kg as the input cost of seed, electricity, high speed diesel, fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides have surged tremendously.
In a press statement issued here on Tuesday he said that wheat support price for the year 2012-13 must be announced by the government immediately to encourage the growers to cultivate more wheat to meet the targets of production and in order to ensure food security for the 180 million people of Pakistan.
