Essential items’ prices not lowered despite Supreme Court order

The wholesalers and retailers have not reduced the prices of essential kitchen items which they increased soon after the federal budget 2013-14,Business Recorder observed. To know has the traders honoured the federal government’s decision that the enhanced rate of 17 percent GST has not been enforced on the essential commodities after the Supreme Court verdict. 

Business Recorder on Friday conducted a survey in different wholesale as well as retail markets of the twin cities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad and observed that the wholesalers and retailers are still selling these commodities on higher prices. It was also observed that the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has been increased by Rs 25 per kg in two weeks without any government approval. Talking to this correspondent a shopkeeper said the wholesalers of different daily use items are providing the items on higher prices.
