Construction of Kalabagh Dam: AFP urges Imran to fulfil commitments

Agri Forum Pakistan (AFP) Chairman Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal has urged the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to fulfil his election promise of supporting construction of Kalabagh Dam after coming in to powers by getting a resolution passed from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa assembly in favour of it.

Mughal while talking to media persons here on Monday said Imran Khan during his electioneering had said that his party would start construction of Kalabagh Dam after convincing the provinces to support this project of vital importance. He said now when PTI had made government in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa with clear majority, Imran Khan should ask his government to get pass a resolution from the KPK parliament in favour of the Kalabagh Dam. He said Punjab had already passed such a resolution so KPK move would make it support from two provinces.

In Mughal’s opinion, this would make work on construction of Kalabagh Dam possible which earlier had become impossible. He alleged that the PTI had taken votes from the nation in the name of Kalabagh Dam so it should take immediate steps to materialise this promise so as menace of load-shedding come to an end and country start its journey on way of economic development and prosperity.
