The price of chicken meat has recorded a decline of Rs 30 in Karachi in the retail market and is currently available at Rs 220 per kg against Rs 260 per kg a few days ago. High price pushed the chicken meat sale down, retailers said, adding that the sharp decline has enabled a large segment of society to afford the white meat.
Giving reasons for the unexpected decline in the prices of poultry products, retailers said the declining purchasing power of an overwhelming number of poultry customers helped bring the prices down. They expressed hope that with the reduction of price, demand for chicken meat may increase substantially.
