Butchers association’s proposal rejected

District administration has declined the proposal of butchers association for fixing official price of meat and grinded meat (Qima) at Rs 270 and Rs 320 respectively in the provincial metropolis. On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, the meeting of committee constituted for re-fixation of the price of meat and grinded meat with Assistant Commissioner (AC)-I, Habib Arif in the chair. 

During the meeting, the butchers’ association demanded the fixing of official price of meat at grinded meat (Qima) at Rs 270 and Rs 320 respectively while taking into consideration the prevailing price hike in the country. After the demand of the butchers the committee contacted Deputy Commissioner and informed him about their proposal. 

Deputy Commissioner while expressing anger over the demand of the butchers rejected the proposal and directed the committee to conduct a market survey and also collect information about rates of the commodities from other district and fixed a price in proportion to the purchase power of the people. He also directed extending maximum relief to the people.
