75 percent of sugarcane growers’ dues paid: Commissioner

Cane Commissioner Punjab, Ahmer Malik has claimed that 76 percent of the dues of sugarcane growers against the sugar mills have already been cleared by January 15, 2013. In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said as per law, the sugar mills are bound to make payments with in 15 days and up to January 15, 2013 sugar mills have already made payments of Rs 36 billions to the sugarcane growers. 

The Commissioner said besides the provincial government, all district governments are also continuously monitoring the payments to the sugarcane growers, so the timely payments could make them to return to the production.
