Thailand sells hipol sugar

State-run Thai Cane and Sugar Corp (TCSC) said on Thursday it sold 36,000 tonnes of Thai high polarisation, or hipol, sugar at 55 points over New York futures at a tender. It also sold 14,000 tonnes of J-spec sugar at 63 points. The total volume was below the 170,000 tonnes that the agency sought to sell during the tender.

Of the widely traded hipol sugar, 24,000 tonnes was sold to Itochu Corp and another 12,000 tonnes to Louis Dreyfus, the agency said. Shipments are scheduled for July 1-September 15, 2016. Agrex Asia Pte Ltd bought 14,000 tonnes of J-spec, the low-quality Thai raws favoured by Japanese buyers. Half will be shipped on March 1-May 15, 2016 and the other half on May 1-July 15, 2016.
