Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Umar Masoud Faruki has hailed Rs 341 billion special package for farmers announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, claiming it is a right decision taken at the right time. He said, “The premier has done a great job by announcing the package to strengthen the agriculture growth. The reduction in the mark-up rates by two percent in agriculture loans and slashed prices of fertilisers will further strengthen farmers’ confidence in the government.”
He also said the package envisaged direct cash assistance to the farmers, relief in the prices of agriculture inputs, provision of agriculture loans and simplified the procedure of loans. “A fund with Rs 20 billion to provide fertilisers to the farmers at a low rate will help them. The government has decided to pay premium for crop insurance scheme which is a good sign,” he claimed.
