Package a milestone for uplift of agriculture sector: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given due rights to the farmers and cultivators by announcing a historic relief package of Rs 341 billion. He said that no government in the history of the country announced such a historic relief package for farmers and the credit of such a big farmer-friendly package goes to PML-N.

Shahbaz said that this package is a milestone for the development of agriculture sector. Shahbaz said that the historic relief package of Rs 341 billion for the resolution of problems of farmers and uplift of agriculture sector will bring a revolution in agriculture sector.

He said that the problems of small farmers will be resolved due to the direct benefit of 147 billion rupees. He said that this package will play an important role in the provision of relief to the farmers and development of agriculture sector. The CM said that PML-N government has always protected interests of farmers and will do so in future as well. He said that welfare of farmers, protection of their interests and promotion of agriculture is the top priority of the government and this package is of great importance in this regard in which the interests of small farmers have been given priority.

Shahbaz said that agriculture sector is the backbone in the progress of national economy. He said that if agriculture will progress then Pakistan will move forward. He said that PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive and historic relief package for the prosperity of the farmers and development of agriculture.

He said that PML-N government has taken steps on priority basis for resolving the problems of farmers. That is why, Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme is being implemented speedily for the development and promotion of rural economy, he added. The CM said that the work of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads in Punjab will be completed with a huge amount of Rs 150 billion during next three years.

He said that more than ten percent share has been allocated for the districts of south Punjab under this programme which reflects the policy of balanced development of rural and urban areas. He said that roads programme is a historic project for the development and progress of rural economy which will change the lifestyle of rural people. He said that farmers, labourers, students and the entire population will equally benefit from this programme.
