On farm water management subsidies for farmers including laser leveling & solar systems

The government is providing subsidy for following activities being implemented under On-Farm Water Management.

High Efficiency Irrigation System (HEIS)

The government subsidizes 60 percent of total system cost for installation of HEIS on upto 15 acres while the remaining costs are contributed by the beneficiary farmers. In addition, government also provides 60 percent subsidy for construction of water storage pond, if needed, on the basis of site specific technical requirements.

LASER Land Leveling Unit

One time financial assistance of PKR. 225,000/- per unit is provided to the farmers/service providers for procurement of LASER land leveler.

Watercourse Improvement

The government provides entire cost of construction materials besides providing technical guidance while the beneficiary farmers contribute entire labour costs for improvement of unimproved watercourses as well as completion of improvement works on partially improved watercourses as per following provisions. Farmers contribute entire labour costs for

  • Demolishing and reconstruction of katcha watercourse
  • Excavation for the portion to be lined
  • Back earth filling of structures and lined section
  • Masons and unskilled labour of all civil works

Solar System at HEIS Sites

The government subsidized 80 percent of total system cost for installation of Solar System  while the remaining costs are contributed by the beneficiary farmers. Installation of Drip/Sprinkler Irrigation System is pre-requisite for Solar System installation.

Installation of Tunnel at HEIS Sites

Government subsidized  50 percent of total cost but not more than Rs.225,000/- per acre. Subsidy is being provided after installation of tunnel as per departmental standards and specifications. Installation of Drip Irrigation System is pre-requisite for availing subsidy of tunnel.

Construction of Rainwater Harvesting Ponds

Government subsidized 50 percent of total cost for construction of rainwater harvesting ponds to collect excess rainwater from cotton fields during monsoon.

Development of Sunken Fields

Government subsidized 50 percent of total cost for development of sunken fields located at lower end of cotton fields on cotton growing farms to collect excess rainwater.

Provision of Portable Water Pumping System

Government subsidized 50 percent of total cost for provision of portable water pumping system to cotton growers for removing excess standing water from cotton fields and its collection in water storage pond for irrigation and other purposes subsequently.
