The Punjab government will distribute 0.1 million bags of high quality certified wheat seed free of cost next month among progressive farmers to accelerate its campaign of grow more food in the province.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday Director General Punjab Agriculture Extension Services Dr Anjum Ali said that the provincial government was spending Rs 300 million on this scheme to produce good quality certified seeds in the country.
He said the progressive farmers will be bound to sell their produce to the farmers for use as seed next year at the normal market rate of wheat. He said that sowing of Rabi crops including strategic wheat, oilseeds, potato, grams, fodder, vegetables etc would start in October.
