45 percent work on Zamir Gul Dam Kohat completed

About 45 percent work on the under construction Zamir Gul Dam situated in the remote village of Ziarat Sheikh Allahdad in Kohat District on Kohat-Nizampur Road has been completed. Annual rainfall in the area is 22 percent. There is thousands acres barren land but due to no proper canal system, it can’t be brought under cultivation. Most lands of Ziarat Sheikh Allahdad are Barani.

Indeed construction of dam in the area is the need of the hour and construction of Zamir Gul is the wise and timely decision of the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf led provincial government. The Dam on completion would bring green revolution in the area and usher in era of progress and prosperity and ameliorate the lot of the poor strata.

The dam is being constructed on Palah Khwar on Nizampur Road at Ziarat Sheikh Allahdad some 71 KM away from Kohat at a cost of Rs 987.77 million. Work on the Dam was launched in 2013 by the incumbent PTI government and so far 45 percent work has been done and its expected completion date is June 2016.

The said dam will have 27.43 KM (89998 feet) long channels and irrigate 3,535 acres barren land. It will have the catchment area of 36.5 sq miles and capacity of grass storage of 7971 Acre Ft water. Height of the Dam will be 128 Ft above Bed Rock and Crest Length 839 Ft. Similarly Dead Storage Level of the Dam will be 1280 Acre Ft and maximum Pond Level 406.75 M.
