Punjab government distributes seeds to flood-hit growers




  • The Punjab government has started free of cost distribution of Punjab Seed Corporation’s (PSC) certified seed of different crops among the flood affected areas of the Southern Punjab. In all 98,230 bags of certified seeds worth Rs 240 million will be distributed among flood hit growers. 

    This was stated by the Punjab Minister for Agriculture Malik Ahmad Ali while speaking at a ceremony held in this connection on Monday to distribute seeds among flood hit areas of Rajanpur, Rojhan and Jampur. Members of the provincial assembly, Director General Agriculture (extension) Dr Anjum Ali Buttar and others were present on this occasion. The minister said that the Chief Minister Punjab consider sorrow of every farmer as his own sorrow and distribution of free seeds was an ample proof of his being farmer friendly. 

    He said that launching of green tractor scheme worth Rs 6 billion and allocation of Rs 36 billion for pavement of canals and water courses were aimed at developing the agriculture. He criticised the federal government for imposing 16 per cent GST on agricultural inputs. The minister distributed 19,281 seed bags amongst 3,977 farmers of Rajanpur, 47,787 bags in 9,377 growers of Tehsil Jampur and 31,162 bags in 17,263 farmers of Rojhan.
