PTB organises training programme

Pakistan Tobacco Board organised a three day training programme for newly appointed assistant development officers at Tobacco research station, in Mardan district. Abdul Baseer, Director Research and Development welcomed the participants and elaborated the purpose of the training. 

He stated that the objective of the training is to provide necessary information and guidance to the assistant development offices on tobacco marketing prior to the manufacturing season for smooth and proper supervision of marketing operations in the field as an ADO has to play a pivotal role in the marketing season. 

Afterward training sessions were held on laws governing tobacco marketing under the PTB ordinance 1968 MLO-487 and tobacco marketing Rules 1993, constitution of vigilance committees, their function, boiling and grading of FCV and WP tobacco. As well as rules governing spilled over leaf, harvesting of ripe/makra leaf, function of Governor Inspection Teams and expert of tobacco and tobacco products. 

The secretary, PTB in his concluding remarks appreciated the efforts of Director P&D and organising committee for conducting a useful, informative programme for new officers. He said that marketing is a crucial phase of tobacco crop production and the smooth conduct of marketing operations was vital. The training programme will be helpful to ADOs to discharge their responsibilities in an efficient manner. He said that such training programme are organised for the capacity building of the officers of an organisation.
