Model Farms Services Centres: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government releases Rs 500 million, says minister

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Arbab Mohammad Ayub Jan has said that the provincial government has released a fund of Rs 500 million for establishment of Agricultural Model Farms Services Centres to bring economic stability in the province.

This he said while talking to a delegation of growers here on Monday. He said that an increase of 17 per cent in the agricultural budget of the province was a big achievement of the present government. He said that for the first time in the history the government had initiated revolutionary agricultural measures for elimination of poverty, backwardness and unemployment from the province. Under the project, the Farms Services Centres will provide quality seed, pesticides and machinery to farmers of the province on concessional rates. He said that in the past no government had paid attention to the development of agricultural sector.

However, he said that the present government during last four years had given top priority to it. He said that the fertile lands of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beside seasonal and unseasonal vegetables were also suitable for plantation of orchards and production maize crop. Therefore, he said that the government had approved the plantation of orchards on maximum lands of Peshawar, Hazara and Malakand.
