Federalminister briefed about PGJDC performance

Federal Minister for Production, Anwar Ali Cheema chaired the meeting of Board of Directors of Pakistan Gem and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC) in the committee room of the Ministry of Production. Federal Secretary Gul Muhammad Rind and PGJDC Chairperson Seemen Yusuf Siddique were also present in the meeting. Chief Executive Officer Bakhtiar gave detailed briefing on the overall performance of the company during last fiscal year. 

Highlighting the activities and achievements made by the company, the CEO mentioned that 76 trainings were so far conducted, which resulted in 913 beneficiaries in the gems and stone sector. While explaining collaborations and linkages, the CEO mentioned few agreements recently signed in gem and stone sector, including the Rs 1.43 million MoU with BISP to build the capacity of gem sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. The company’s management was advised to strengthen their marketing department in order to promote their product and trained human resource at international level. 

The Minister directed the concerned officials to generate their own revenue for long-term sustainability of the project. Further, the Minister has appreciated their endeavours in the field of gems sector. In this regard, the Minister has endorsed the opinion of Secretary of self-sustainability and revenue generation in the times to come.-PR
